Dark Horse Adventures
CNI’s founder actively markets the company through her equestrian adventures. Training and competing horses involves great effort and devotion, like developing long term relationships. Horses require us to be our best selves. Working with these incredible creatures is one of the best ‘medicines’ and therapy, Ms. Landson knows.
The intersection between clinical research, healthcare and horses produces two noteworthy results:
Therapeutic Riding
In this setting, horseback riding is utilized for persons with physical disabilities. For example, stroke victims for whom the ability to walk has been impacted can benefit for the motion created by riding a horse. The brain can actually be reminded of the necessary neuromotor skills. For more information please see www.narha.org
Equine Assisted Therapy
In this setting horses are used as a medium in behavioral modification in cases such as emotionally challenged patients or juvenile delinquency. Building a relationship with an animal is very rewarding in many aspects; for a person with an emotional, social or psychological disability, the trust and loyalty of an animal demonstrates to the patient how important they are and then they may extend these attributes to personal relationships. For more information please see www.eagala.org
As an eventor and Refine Horse Versatility enthusiast, Ms. Landson works with trainers who are much like the clients sought at CNI. Progressive, thoughtful and comprehensive in their approach, these horse professionals are held in high regard in the equine community.
